The event was supported by Caerphilly Business Forum and Caerphilly County Borough Council. The meeting was addressed by Cabinet Secretary for Finance and Local Government, Mark Drakeford and Manager of the Money Advice Service (Wales), Lee Phillips.

The aim of the event was to explore the benefits to employers, employees and the local business community in creating partnership with their local credit union. The meeting identified the financial pressures on individuals and how this impacts on local employers. Following the meeting the credit unions received enquiries from seven employers wishing to explore the opportunities of establishing partnerships.

Andrew Davies and Geraint Jones from Smart Money Cymru Credit Union supported the organisation of the event. They have been appointed by the Caerphilly Credit Unions to deliver a short-term project funded by Welsh Government, to engage with local business. On behalf of Caerphilly Credit Unions, Andrew said: "This Business Breakfast was an excellent event! The interest expressed surprised us. We hope that the new partnerships will be a springboard to promoting credit union to the business community and via them into the wider community. Watch this space!"
