The London Institute of Banking & Finance (formerley IFS University College) is a leading provider of professional and academic qualifications to those aspiring to, or already undertaking, a career within the financial services industry. London-based, it is a registered charity incorporated by Royal Charter that exists to ensure a flow of talented individuals into the financial services industry and related sectors. Its qualifications enable individuals to reach their full professional potential and encourage appropriate and ethical practice. It also works to enhance the financial wellbeing of future generations through its unique personal finance qualifications and wider financial capability initiatives.
The qualification is the result of a collaborative partnership between ABCUL and The London Institute of Banking & Finance in recognition of the requirement for a formal way for individuals to validate their professional capability. By successfully completing the qualification the learner will:
- Support improved operation of your organisation through the development of personal skills and knowledge
- Boost confidence through attaining a professional qualification
- Enhance the professional standards of your credit union.
CeCUPC consists of 3 units of study:
Credit unions and the financial services environment
The financial services marketplace
Financial services regulation
The average required study time is estimated at 130 hours, although factors such as experience, prior knowledge and confidence may increase or reduce this time. Put another way, if a student completed one hour study for 5 days each week, they should be ready to take the examination in 6 months. At the end of the course, there is an assessment through a single 2-hour multiple-choice examination, consisting of 90 questions with a pass mark of 70%. The examination is invigilated at one of the 165 Pearson Vue driving test centres spread nationally.
Each student will be provided with a text book in electronic format, and then by hard copy. Self study of the course materials is a pre-requisite of passing the examination. To help students, we will also provide study techniques and revision aids via the ABCUL Academy learning environment.
Registering for the qualification costs £195 for ABCUL members.
